Tumble outta bed and I stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition and yawn and stretch and try to come to life
Jump in the shower and the blood starts pumpin’
Out on the street the traffic starts jumpin’ with folks like me on the job from 9 to 5
Those immortal words from Dolly Parton are about to take on renewed significance for B, who met his boss and HR representative yesterday to discuss his return to work.
From mid-April he will start with a few half days per week, then gradually increase his hours to 3 full days if all goes well.
Naturally he’s been apprehensive about returning to his job but now seems to be looking forward to it. Last night he was the happiest I’ve seen him in months. It took me by surprise to see him smiling so much. Long may it continue!
We are very lucky that his employer has been so understanding over the past year. I know some cancer patients who have been treated dreadfully after their diagnosis, which is the last thing you need on top of everything else.

What a big relief for you both – well done B!
