The marriage effect

ball-and-chain

B and I went out for dinner last week to celebrate the third anniversary of the day we met. We will also celebrate our first wedding anniversary on the 15th of this month. After I tracked down our initial messages to each other on the dating site, I went back and re-read some of the emails we sent each other when we started communicating at work. It’s interesting to compare and contrast what we were doing then with what is happening now.

30/8/2010:  We met for the first time. Wine, conversation, flirtation, snogging.
30/8/2013:  We discussed B’s treatment for his fungal toenail infection.

3/9/2010:  B cooked a romantic dinner for me at his flat.
3/9/2013:  I castigated B for getting his clothes dirty whilst cooking dinner. ‘You’ve got sauce all over that nice t-shirt! Why didn’t you wear the apron? You’d better take that off so I can scrub it.’

4/9/2010:  We strolled around Camden Market, hand in hand, then drank too much wine by the canal.
2/9/2013:  We visited the Sainsbury’s small electrical appliance recycle bin to drop off a broken computer. Then we fed a bucket of spare change into the Coinstar machine. We rounded out this trip by spending £4 on cheese to get 160 bonus Nectar points.

I wouldn’t change a thing, of course.
